Sodium Silicate is an alkaline inorganic compound commonly supplied as a clear to slightly hazy liquid or solid glassy material, depending on the grade and concentration. It is widely used as a builder, detergent booster, alkalinity source, water softener, dispersing agent and corrosion inhibitor. It is commonly used in detergents, soaps, industrial cleaners, water treatment, paper processing, ceramics, construction materials and various chemical applications. Sodium Silicate helps improve cleaning performance, stabilize formulations and protect certain metal surfaces from corrosion. General formula: Na₂O·nSiO₂; exact composition, SiO₂/Na₂O ratio and concentration depend on the grade supplied.
