Stearic Acid is a saturated fatty acid supplied as a white to off-white waxy solid or flakes. It is widely used as a thickening, emulsifying, consistency and structuring agent in a variety of formulations. It is commonly used in bar soaps, creams, lotions, cosmetics, petroleum jellies, candles, rubber products and industrial formulations. In soap making, Stearic Acid can contribute to hardness, opacity and a creamy, stable lather, while in cosmetics it helps improve texture and consistency. Chemical formula: C₁₈H₃₆O₂; CAS: 57-11-4.
